About us

She is not your rehab
We are a not-for-profit charitable anti-violence organisation that exists to address and dismantle the cycles of intergenerational trauma, violence and abuse by promoting safe relationships and providing support for individuals and communities.
Our Story
How it all started…
2019
Our Story begins
In 2019 when Matt Brown MNZM, launched the concept of ‘She is not your rehab’ in his TEDx talk; The Barbershop where men go to heal. He says the anti-violence movement that he founded from a barbershop is an invitation for men to acknowledge their own childhood trauma and to take responsibility for their healing so that they can transform their pain instead of transmitting it on those around them.
It’s important that this is an engaging message, delivered in multiple ways with innovation, creativity and empathy as traditionally there are multiple layers of sadness and shame around conversations regarding family harm and intimate partner violence.
2020
2020 social media campaigns
Delivering social media campaigns each year like the 2020 ‘Dear Mr Rock’ clip – A moving video letter to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson that went viral, had millions of views, extensive publicity and received a response back from the man himself, typically engage the audience in thought provoking, culturally relevant ways to consider a collective response and appropriate action to creating violence free communities.

Were on a mission to gift 125,000 books to refuges, schools, and community spaces, ensuring no child is left to carry what was never theirs.
